When you speak about Mijas, you have to consider that this is really two different locations. Firstly, there is ‘Mijas Pueblo’ which is a picturesque and beautiful white village high up in the mountain offering fine views of Fuengirola. At Mijas Pueblo there is a bull ring, many quaint shops, restaurants and bars and this really offers a true look at the 'real Spain'.
Mijas Costa is the coastal part of the town, which has expanded rapidly over the past years to become several towns within one place and these resort/towns include La Cala de Mijas, Riviera del Sol, Torrenueva and Calahonda. All of these towns take in the coastal area of Mijas. Very built up with a huge expat community, many different hotels and plenty of bars and restaurants. This is a very popular area for the British to move to for a home and a business in Spain.
