Utilities and Services for your Business

When you take over your business, you will have the following utilities, of which your Gestor will change the accounts into your name.

Electricity

Your Gestor will check that the bills up to the date of you buying the business is all paid up to date and in the event that there is a crossover with the bill and your completion, your Gestor will retain some money to pay any outstanding electricity from the previous owner. Electricity in Spain is around 30% lower than the UK and the company bills every two months. The voltage is 220 volts and your UK appliances will work in Spain.

Water

Water is paid every quarter and is extremely cheap when compared to the UK. The water in Spain is safe to drink, although most people drink bottled water through choice.

Gas

There is no mains gas in most of the Costa del Sol and users of gas use bottled gas, which is delivered directly to you and costs about 13€ per bottle.

Telephone

Where there is a landline telephone connected, this will be changed into your name and you will retain the existing number of the business. If there is no telephone line, we can help arrange this for you and a new line can be installed within a matter of days. There are many different companies competing for your business and you can get a good deal on a line with ADSL and inclusive calls to the UK. Spanish Bars will be pleased to advise and discuss this with you.

Accountancy

Your accountant (Gestor) will take care of all of your accountancy and taxation needs and will make it a very easy and worry free thing for you – leaving you to concentrate on the most important thing - running your business and making money!

The initial fee that you pay for the legal costs of your business will cover a multitude of work, which includes setting you up for social security which will give you and your whole family free medical care and schooling for your children.

Bank Accounts

Spanish Bars will assist you in opening a bank account and we will offer you a choice of several banks that we know speak English and offer good service. You do not need to deposit money to open a bank account and you will receive a cheque book, online banking (in English!) and a Visa debit card.
